River Runners readying for another year

Jul 16, 2011 | 10:58 AM

The Prince Albert River Runners are preparing another batch of kids for their annual river expedition.

The group takes a diverse group of teenagers from the community, partners them with adults, including police officers, and teaches them team building and hard work skills.

“We take them on a three-day, two-night river trip with kayaks and canoes and we start on the North Saskatchewan River and we end up in Prince Albert,” said Staff Sgt. Dave Schluff with the Prince Albert Police Service.

Schluff said the program is a great way to teach youth important life lessons, gain trust with the police and make some great friends and memories along the way.
