Man was being chased; witnesses

Jul 14, 2011 | 12:08 PM

A man running for a house, looking for protection from three people chasing him, is what witnesses say they saw in a West Flat housing complex.

A resident said the man didn’t say anything, that he made it into a doorway before being pulled out again by the alleged assailants.

The resident said the man was bleeding and he fell over onto the ground outside.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene, Tuesday night. The man was taken to hopital where he was declared dead.

There was an initial feeling of panic the resident said.

“Fear for the man who is lying there gasping for air, anger that it happened, right there, it was an array of emotions.”

“It’s not something children should have to see or deal with in a lifetime.”

The man is unknowns to the area, neighbours said.

They said nothing like that has ever happened there, but it is changing how people feel about their neighbourhood.

“I want to move now permanently from that area.”

One person said that her children will need counselling.

“I’m very devastated. I cannot believe Prince Albert went from being one of the best cities to raise your children and live in to what it’s become today.”

Throughout the afternoon and into the night police were investigating and haven’t ruled foul play.
It is expected that police will release more information this afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Prince Albert Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
