Saskatchewan looks to lower carbon emissions

Jul 14, 2011 | 6:54 AM

A Saskatchewan project to lower carbon emissions is one step closer to development.

On Wednesday afternoon SaskPower announced that Stantec has been awarded a $30 million contract for consulting services in the design of the Boundary Dam Integrated Carbon Capture and Storage Demonstration project.

When complete, the project should grab about 90 per cent of carbon emissions. That's the equivalent of taking more than 250,000 vehicles off Saskatchewan roads each year.

Stantec President and CEO Bob Gomes says it was something the company really wanted to be a part of.
