Woman dies after accident

An accident has caused the death of a young woman in Northern Saskatchewan.

On Saturday, a 24-year-old woman from Sturgeon Lake First Nation was driving south on Highway 2 about 50 kilometers south of La Ronge when her car hit an oncoming vehicle head on.

By the time Police arrived on the scene, her car was completely engulfed in flames.

The woman and the three people from the other vehicle were all taken to the La Ronge Health Unit. Two people including the 24-year-old woman were then airlifted to Saskatoon.

According to Cory Ecarnot with La Ronge EMS the woman was injured very badly and didn’t survive her injuries.

The cause of the accident is still under investigations, the names of those involved are not being released at this time.
