Water main repairs to continue into Friday

Repairs on 15 Street West will continue for at least another day due to what workers are calling unforeseen circumstances.

Workers have been on site since the beginning of the week repairing a major break.

Problems began after a vehicle collided with a fire hydrant on Fourth Avenue West last winter.

Crews replaced the hydrant but when the line—estimated to be several decades old—burst in several places when repressurized.

The broken pipe disrupted water service to several homes in the area and the city has been providing potable water from a water truck.

The city said crews will begin work early Friday. Once the pipe is repaired, service will return but houses will be under a boil water advisory until testing can be completed.
