A 34-year-old man was pronounced dead after he was found unconscious in his cell Friday morning by Prince Albert police.

According to police, Ryan Kereluk was arrested after police executed a search warrant at a Sixth Ave. W. home May 16. He had outstanding warrants for breaking-and-entering, police said, along with breaching an undertaking and recognizance. He was not charged in connection with the warrant search.

Police said Kereluk appeared before a justice of the peace at the city police station yesterday and was remanded to appear in court this morning at 9:30. He was found unconscious and not breathing this morning at 7:54 a.m., police said, during a routine cell check. Attempts to revive him with CPR were unsuccessful.

Kereluk was taken to Victoria Hospital by paramedics where he was pronounced dead, police said. The cause of the death has not yet been determined, but police said the Ministry of Justice has been notified as has Kereluk’s family.
