Young girl struck by vehicle dies in Pelican Narrows

A young girl has died after being struck by a truck in Pelican Narrows.

Friday, at around 5 p.m., Pelican Narrows RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian that was hit by a vehicle.

The RCMP found that a 17-month-old girl was struck by a truck that was backing up in a residential yard.

The child was transported to a local clinic and was later pronounced deceased.

Police say alcohol was not a factor.

Victim Services and holistic workers from the Peter Ballantyne First Nation are being made available to the families.

The investigation continues with help from an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist.
