West Wind Aviation cleared for takeoff

May 8, 2018 | 2:00 PM

The company operating a flight which crashed in northern Saskatchewan late last year has been cleared to resume regular operations.

In a press release issued on May 8, Transport Canada said West Wind Aviation was given the go-ahead to return to regular operations. The airline was grounded in December of 2017, shortly after an ATR42-320 operated by West Wind crashed while taking off from Fond-du-Lac leaving one dead and more than 20 others injured.

The federal organization suspended West Wind’s operator certificate on Dec. 22, 2017, after finding deficiencies in the company’s operational control system.

“West Wind Aviation has addressed Transport Canada’s concerns regarding the deficiencies in its Operation Control System,” Transport Canada said in a statement.
