A teenage boy is facing charges after police followed up on reports of a female youth being stabbed in the RM of Buckland last month.

The incident occurred on Oct. 15. RCMP investigators appealed to the public and asked for any witnesses to come forward. The mother of the girl spoke to paNOW on the condition of anonymity after the attack. She said the girl was stabbed multiple times at an outdoor party and underwent emergency surgery. During last month’s interview, she said her daughter was recovering physically, but still dealing with the emotional trauma from the incident.

The youth, who cannot be named in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with aggravated assault and carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He will appear in court on Nov. 27.
