Food bank receives nutty donation
Some families in Prince Albert will have a sticky surprise in their food hamper this month’s thanks to a generous community donation.
One-hundred and twenty jars of peanut butter were gifted to the Prince Albert Food Bank Monday from members of CUPE to help sweeten breakfasts and lunches for the school year.
The idea was spearheaded by Coun. Charlene Miller who, as a health care worker, approached her union to help out. Peanut butter was selected for its high nutritional and protein values.
“It is very important that kids get the nutritious stuff they need,” Miller said. “The kids are going back to school and it is very important for them for developing and learning in school to have a full belly.”
