Alleged thief arrested; machete seized

A man found with a machete and stolen property was arrested by police yesterday. 

On Thursday, police officers spotted a man walking down 28th St. W. thought to be responsible for a theft from a vehicle. 

The officers arrested the suspect. When his backpack was searched, a machete, face mask, shot gun ammunition, stolen CDs and a bank card were found.

The 27-year-old man from Montreal Lake was charged with one count of possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace, one count of possession of ammunition while prohibited, and one count of possession of stolen property not exceeding $5,000.

The suspect made his first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.
