Would-be thief sentenced for carrying a concealed weapon in P.A.

A Saskatoon man will spend 60 days in jail for carrying a concealed weapon.

Jordan Grasdahl-Stanley, 21, was sentenced in Prince Albert provincial court today.

The court heard police responded to calls of attempted car break-ins in the neighborhood of Allbright Cres., July 10.  When they arrived at 11:22 p.m., they saw two men running eastbound.

Officers arrested one of the men, identified as Stanley, with the help of a police service dog. He was found carrying a concealed weapon described by police as a camouflaged folding knife.

The defense argued Stanley was on his way to Christopher Lake to meet family on the date of the offence. The lawyer said Stanley was not trying to get in trouble, and he ended up in Prince Albert because his ride had ditched him and he needed to find a new one.

Stanley pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon and will serve his time in the Saskatoon Correctional Center.

The other man involved in the case, 22-year-old Harley Soare, was charged with two counts of carrying a concealed weapon. A police search revealed in addition to carrying a knife, Soare was also allegedly carrying a machete.
