Investigation on-going into Louisiana’s BBQ robbery

La Ronge RCMP responded to a complaint of an armed robbery at the Lousiana’s BBQ Restaurant at 503 Studer St. in La Ronge just before 11 p.m. on April 15. 

RCMP believe two men wearing masks entered the premises, assaulted 64-year-old restaurant owner Simon Grant and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Grant was taken to the La Ronge hospital where he was then airlifted to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. He succumbed to his injuries on April 17.

Grant’s death is being treated as a homicide.

The multi-agency investigation includes members from the RCMP Major Crimes Unit – North, Prince Albert General Investigations, Prince Albert and Tisdale forensics, Prince Albert Police Dog Service and the chief coroner’s office.
