In the wake of the season ending injury to kicker Luca Congi, the Roughriders have added another kicker to the roster.

Warren Kean, who's been in and out of football since being drafted second overall in 2007, has been signed to the Roughriders practice roster. Kean will be an insurance policy now that the Riders Eddie Johnson is handling both place kicking and punting duties.

Kean, who has bounced around the league since being drafted by Edmonton in 2007 and was doing radio sales until know, is glad to have gotten the call.

“I've bounced around and I've been in many locker rooms and definitely seen what it takes to win,” said Kean. “I think I bring a little bit of experience that way and hopefully somewhat of a level head. I'm a field goal kicker. Hopefully, I'm kicking field goals.”

Kean has been keeping his leg fresh being able to kick at McMahon Stadium in Calgary while he was doing sales.

“I've been kicking,” said Kean. “It's always been in the back of my head (a team calling him). Some guys go to the driving range at lunch, I just happen to go kick field goals.”

The 26-year old Kean still holds the CIS record for most field goals in a game with nine, while a member of the Concordia Stingers.
