Saskatoon parents differ in opinion on Saskatchewan teachers voting for job sanctions

Apr 27, 2011 | 6:52 AM

Some Saskatoon parents feel strongly while others aren't too concerned after hearing 95 per cent of Saskatchewan teachers voted in favor of limiting their services and possibly walking off the job.

They are aware that if sanctions are imposed, after-school activities would be the first to go. “Certainly any withdrawal of those services will affect the educational experience for the kids,” stated one parent.

“If that's what it's going to take we'd be on the side of the teachers,” said a mother.

There was some concern about the stress it will have on working parents who plan their lives around after school sports. However, most activities have finished up at this time of year, and parents predict both elementary and high school graduations may take a hit.
