New name announced for Downtown Lions Park

May 27, 2016 | 12:22 PM

Prince Albert’s Downtown Lions Park took on a new name this week.

On Thursday, May 26, the park was renamed to Lakeland Ford Park. The name was changed to reflect the substantial sponsorship from Lakeland Ford Sales Ltd.

Under the city’s new naming rights and sponsorship policy, Lakeland Ford Sales Ltd. bought the name of the park for a multi-year period. The sponsorship will aid in needed upgrades for the park. The planned improvements include shale and fencing, which will allow the league to host major events.

The park, which is located in the Pehonan Parkway, was known as Downtown Lions Park since 1987 and Burns Park before that.
