Funnel clouds possible in Prince Albert area

May 23, 2016 | 11:21 AM

Environment Canada has issued a weather advisory for areas around Prince Albert, Kindersley and the Battlefords.

A low-pressure system spinning over south-west Saskatchewan could lead to scattered showers and thunderstorms Monday afternoon, creating conditions favorable for funnel clouds.

A statement from the weather office says these funnel clouds usually appear with little or no warning, and it is important to take shelter when one is spotted.

The threat of funnel clouds is expected to decrease later in the afternoon.
