Parkland paramedics deal with numerous car crashes over Grey Cup weekend

Nov 29, 2015 | 2:55 PM

Parkland Ambulance Paramedics responded to car accidents on the weekend more than any other incident.

Between 5:15 and 7:45 p.m. they responded to three car crashes. Only minor injuries were reported from the first crash. A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital for further care. There were no injuries in the other two crashes.

There were no injuries in the two other car crashes Saturday night, at 9:38 and 11:43 p.m.

Given the icy Prince Albert roads, they ask that everyone put their winter tires on their car if they haven’t already, and to drive safely.

A 46-year-old man and an 18-year-old man were treated for minor injuries stemming an assault early Saturday in the 100 block of 28th St. E.

Before 8 a.m. a 24-year-old man received care for minor injuries from an assault in the 1200 block of 28th St. E. He was taken by ambulance to hospital for further care.

Just south of the city paramedics responded to an assault on Hwy 2 south, where they cared for a 26-year-old with minor injuries.

Parkland Ambulance Paramedics want to remind everyone enjoying a Grey Cup party to plan a safe ride home, and avoid drinking and driving.

Be safe during hunting season as well, and follow these tips:

  • Hunt with a buddy.
  • Ask permission to hunt on someone’s property.
  • Don’t cut down fences or drive across any fields that might have crops already planted.
  • Be prepared if you get lost.
  • Never hunt from a moving vehicle.
  • Make sure you always know where you are when hunting, and have a safe time
