Saskatoon city council may put a muffler on noisy motorcycles on Monday night.

A decision is expected on a proposal from Councillor Bob Pringle to limit the amount of noise emitted from motorcycles.

It's not about targeting bikers, Pringle insists.

“I've also met with the industry. The industry agrees with this standard and they agree with the position I'm taking,” said Pringle.

But he claims they are the only vehicles which can have limits enforced on them.

He says cars and trucks should also face noise restrictions, but since there are no industry standards set for other vehicles, there is no limit which could uphold in court.

One local bike owner has collected over 2,000 signatures on a petition against the idea.

Pringle says he understands their complaints, but says 2,000 people hardly makes up a majority view.
