Moose Jaw woman searching for deceased daughters stolen iPod

A Moose Jaw woman is pleading for help to find a pink iPod nano that was stolen from her truck, the iPod that belonged to her daughter who passed away.

Angela Bird accidentally left the iPod in her unlocked truck Saturday night. When she went to go to work on Monday morning, she found that her truck had been rifled through, and things had been stolen.

“They took other stuff too, and that stuff’s replaceable. The iPod, I can’t replace it no matter what I do.”

Bird says the iPod represents a piece of her daughter, Sonny, and she’s devastated by the loss.

“There was almost a thousand songs that she’d had on there that, you know, represented her. Stuff she enjoyed listening to.”

Sonny had cystic fibrosis, and died from the disease at the age of 26. Bird says her daughter was inspirational, and even when she was sick she was helping others.

“She would help anybody at any time.”

Bird says the iPod was always with Sonny.

“Toward the end of her life there, being limited in as much mobility as she had, the music kept her company, in the hospital, at home, everywhere.”

Bird says the iPod is now a part of her daily life, she listens to her daughter’s music all the time, and it even wakes her up in the morning.

Bird made a report with the Moose Jaw Police Service, but said she hasn’t heard anything about it so far.

But Bird’s story has gone viral. A man in Moose Jaw, Clayton Finnell, runs a Facebook page called “1000 good deeds,” and he’s trying to help.
Bird calls him a godsend for his help.

“The people trying to find it, it’s amazing.”

Bird said the iPod isn’t worth much to anyone else, and is hoping whoever stole it will bring it back.
