Visibility was heavily reduced, the air was hard to breathe and the smell of smoke filled the air across from the Alfred Jenkins Field House.

Around 5:30 p.m. a fire could be seen in an empty field.  The wind was blowing hard as the blaze spread quickly towards the road.  The Prince Albert Fire Department (PAFD) said this, in addition to the dry conditions, was the reason behind the speed of the blaze.

The wind pushed the smoke across the road forcing fire crews to close a section of 10th Avenue and 28th Street West for a time.
