Federal funding a no for proposed sports facility

A Regina Conservative MP has said that a federal government caucus meeting determined that there will be no funding of sports stadiums.

“There’s no federal program frankly that is eligible for Quebec to apply to, so since we will not be funding Quebec, of course this decision to not be funding sports facilities will be applied consistently across the country,” said Tom Lukwiski, MP for Regina- Lumsden-Lake Centre.

One of the reasons he said was because there wasn't enough private partnership in Quebec's application.

“Based on the insufficient private sector investment, we would not be putting any direct funding, investment, federal investment funding in the Quebec arena project,” Lukwiski said.
