Mar 21, 2014 | 4:21 PM

Bruce Vance, the business manager with the Prince Albert Raiders, stood with Tim Bozon and his family only a few days after he awoke from a coma.

The 19-year-old Kootenay Ice player has been in Saskatoon’s Royal University Hospital with meningitis since March 1.

The night before, the Saskatoon Blades played host to the Ice.

Meningitis is an inflammation of tissue around the brain and spine.

Over the course of a week, doctors slowly woke Bozon from a coma. On Wednesday, he was reported in stable condition and moved out of the intensive care unit.

Philippe and Helene Bozon, his parents, have been by his side since flying to Saskatoon from Switzerland.

Bozon’s parents said in a media release that he is awake, moving around in his bed, trying to feed himself and trying to speak.

Vance visited the family to pass on get well wishes in the form of a poster signed by Raider fans at their home game on March 14.

In addition, he brought a check for $1,715. Those were the proceeds from the Tuesday viewing in the Ches Leach Lounge of the Raiders and the Red Deer Rebels away game.

That money will join other donations in the Tim Bozon Trust Fund, established by the WHL to help pay for medical expenses required for Bozon’s treatment and recovery.

Donations can be made at any BMO Bank of Montreal branch in Western Canada. Donations can be sent to the Tim Bozon Trust c/o Western Hockey League 2424 University Drive NW Calgary Alta., T2N 3Y9.

The Raiders will face the Edmonton Oil Kings in another away game on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
