Parks Canada to host Learn to Camp event at PA National Park
Young families and new Canadians will have the chance to learn essential camping skills while spending a weekend at Prince Albert National Park.
The Learn to Camp program, operated by Parks Canada and Mountain Equipment Co-op, is designed to provide a first-rate camping experience to 50 participants who’ve never camped before.
“Parks Canada realized there are quite a few people who have just never had an opportunity to camp, whether that’s because they’re new to Canada or they’ve maybe just grown up in the city,” said Parks Canada communications officer Shannon Bond.
Over the two-day event held June 22-23, campers will be kept busy, said Bond. Parks Canada guides will show them how to set-up a tent, cook over an open fire, what to bring and wear, as well as take them on a guided hike and a tour of the Town of Waskesiu.
