Escaped inmate low risk: Officials

Mar 12, 2013 | 3:00 PM

The province issued an advisory Tuesday about a female inmate who escaped from a low-security facility in Saskatoon Monday night.

At approximately 11:55 p.m., Melissa April, 23, escaped from the Saskatoon Community Training Residence for women.

April, who’s on remand at the Pine Grove Correctional Centre in Prince Albert, was escorted to Saskatoon that day for a medical appointment. However, she was kept overnight at the facility because of poor highway conditions.

She is charged with weapons-related offences and was on remand in Prince Albert for failing to comply and appear.
