Sentencing delayed in taxi assault case

Sentencing for the youth who assaulted a Prince Albert taxi driver with a machete last April has been adjourned.

The boy was supposed to be sentenced Friday at Prince Albert Provincial Court however, a court ordered mental assesment was late in being delivered to lawyers. 

The 14 year old pleaded guilty in November to one count of aggravated assault and two court breaches.

The unprovoked attack, left a Checker taxi driver with more than 100 stitches and several lost teeth.

The crown is seeking the maximum sentence under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The boy is now scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 15.
