Jury can’t decide Crowe’s fate after first day of deliberations

Dec 9, 2010 | 10:59 AM

The jury began deliberating at 2 p.m., but by 10 p.m., they still weren't able to reach a unanimous decision on whether Jordan Crowe is guilty or not guilty.

Crowe is the Prince Albert man who is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly killing his three-year-old stepson Dilyn Donald on Dec. 23, 2007.

Court has been adjourned until Friday at 8:30 a.m.  In the meantime, the jury will be sequestered, and spend the night in a hotel.

Earlier in the day, Justice Rothery told the jury that in order to find Crowe guilty of second-degree murder, they must find the Crown proved without a reasonable doubt that it was Crowe who committed the crime, that he committed an unlawful act which resulted in Donald's death, and that he either meant to cause Donald's death, or cause bodily harm, knowing it could possibly result in his death.
