Man to be sentenced in September for child pornography charges

Jun 15, 2012 | 2:30 PM

A 22-year-old Marashll area who pleaded guilty to 53 child pornography charges will remain in custody until September when a sentence will be given.

Shane Pattison admitted to sharing and collecting more than 4,000 graphic images of young victims under the age of five. Pattison, who has a one-year-old son, also wrote a manual on how to sexually abuse children, the court heard on Friday.

The crown is asking for seven years in jail, a life time sex offender registry order and a lifetime ban from working or volunteering with kids. However, Pattison's lawyer argued that the sentence should not be longer than three years.
