Mintos start off year with 3-1 win in Tisdale

The Prince Albert Mintos started their SMAAAHL campaign with a win, 3-1 over the Tisdale Trojans on the road Saturday.

Mintos rookie forward Adam Osczevski scored the first goal of year for the Green and Gold, Taylor Murphy and Bryton Sayers assisted on the gal.

The Trojans scored their only goal with four minutes left in the second, courtesy of J.J. Coleshaw.

Lance Yaremchuk got the game winner for the Mintos with five minutes into the third and Matt Anholt iced the game with an empty netter.

Mintos goaltender Tanner Burgardt was named the player of the game, making 22 saves and picking up the win.

The Mintos outshot the Trojans 30-23. Although both teams were shorthanded a combined 21 times, neither team scored on their powerplay. The Mintos were 0-12 and the Trojans were 0-9.

The Mintos will play their next game Thursday against the Saskatoon Contacts in the Schroh Arena.
