Spiritwood RCMP facing assault charge

An RCMP officer is facing an assault charge after an internal investigation.

Const. Donovan Kajner, 33, of the Spiritwood RCMP is facing an assault charge for an incident that is alleged to have occurred on Aug., 2010.

The charges started with a public complaint against the officer. The allegation was investigated by the RCMP Professional Standards Unit and a prosecutor recommended an assault charge be laid.

Kajner was served with the charge on Wednesday. He’ll make his first appearance in court on Sept. 26.

Currently, he remains on full duties.
