Saskatchewan Roughrider Hugh Charles patiently waiting to play

Nov 6, 2010 | 7:49 AM

It's been a frustrating season to say the least for Saskatchewan Roughrider running back Hugh Charles, an explosive player who has seen very little action this year.

Fans keep wondering why they haven't seen more of Hughes, who, unfortunately, is a casualty of the ratio content. He dazzled the home crowd Sept.17 against Calgary on his only touch that went for 30 yards and a touchdown.

Charles says he would like to see more playing time, but is taking it all in stride.

“I've done what I've needed to do,” said Charles.

“I don't think the reason why I'm out is because of what I've done. It's just circumstances in certain situations. I know that coming in and I know that's how it works around here. I'm just waiting patiently and hopefully my time will come.”

Head coach Ken Miller was non-committal as to whether Charles will play this weekend or in the playoffs.

“I just don't know how much we'll be seeing him in this game (against Edmonton), if at all,” said Miller.

“Or we may be seeing a lot of him. To get him on we have to take somebody off, and therein lies a situation as to who you might take off to put him on.”

Asked whether it would be worth making a spot available for him, Miller was quick to answer.

“Who would you suggest?” said Miller. “Come up with that answer and I'll give you a specific answer.”

I'm sure fans could come up with a whole lot of ways to get Charles on the roster.
