A fire in downtown Prince Albert is being investigated by both the fire department and city police.

Emergency crews were called to a back alley between 11th St. E. and 12th St. E. Monday morning after a vehicle caught on fire.

Alex Paul, Prince Albert’s deputy fire chief, told paNOW the fire did spread to a nearby garage.

“When our crews arrived the vehicle was fully involved as well as a fair bit of fire on the exterior of the garage, so we quickly knocked down the garage fire and then extinguished the vehicle fire.”

Paul added how it started is still unknown and police are helping out since there’s not a “cut and dry” cause. He wouldn’t use the word arson at this time.

No one was hurt in the blaze.

A woman who lives in the house with her young children, also told paNOW the car belongs to a friend and it had broken down. The woman also explained she had gone out for coffee and when she returned home, the car was engulfed in flames.
