Paramedics, firefighters hold friendly competition for McHappy Day
While every May 3 might be McHappy Days, a McDonald’s charity drive to support Ronald McDonald House, the date also marks an annual competition between Prince Albert emergency service workers.
For the past seven years, Parkland Ambulance and Prince Albert Fire Department staff have spent the day washing car windows in the McDonald’s drive-thru and collecting donations for Ronald McDonald House charities. The money raised is used to support families of sick children by providing a place to stay while their child is treated at a nearby hospital.
Parkland paramedics were scrubbing for the cause at the Cornerstone McDonald’s location.
“We kind of put on a little friendly competition against the firefighters to see who raises the most money,” Paramedic Chris Pacey said. “It’s always friendly, and it’s for the right cause.”
