Raiders start out hot but fall in SO to Warriors
The Prince Albert Raiders (8-29-1-2) had their best offensive start to any game this season, but it wasn’t enough as they fell 6-5 in a shootout to the Moose Jaw Warriors (22-9-6-1) Tuesday at the Art Hauser Centre.
After falling down 1-0 just 36 seconds into the game, the Raiders scored three times by the 10:41 mark of the opening frame with goals from Parker Kelly, Luke Coleman and Sean Montgomery. They led 3-2 as a result after the first period.
But the Warriors went 3-6 on the man-advantage, got a hat trick from Brayden Burke and were able to come away with the victory.
“Our power play and 5-on-5 was good, our penalty kill struggled a little bit tonight,” Raiders head coach Marc Habscheid said. “We took some penalties that weren’t calls, but we took some penalties that were calls and too many of those. That cost us.”
