La Loche shooter pleads guilty
The 18-year-old who opened fire at a La Loche school Jan. 22 has pleaded guilty to multiple charges.
The accused, who cannot be named because of a publication ban on young offenders, appeared in a Meadow Lake court today, his first in-person appearance since the shooting which left four dead and seven injured.
He plead guilty to two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree murder and seven counts of attempted murder.
The tragic events started at a home in La Loche, where brothers Dayne and Drayden Fontaine, aged 17 and 13 were shot dead. The shooter then went to the school and opened fire, killing Adam Wood, a 35-year-old teacher, Marie Janvier, a 21-year-old teacher’s assistant, and wounding 7 others. The shooter was arrested at the school by RCMP.
