Ronald MacDonald Family Room Needs Volunteers
For the past 31 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities-SK (RMHC-SK) has supported families across Saskatchewan by providing a “home away from home” in Saskatoon for families of sick children. Now in 2016, we are excited to partner with the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region and expand our reach to open a Ronald McDonald Family Room in the Pediatric Unit of the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital.
The Family Room will provide an oasis, a place where families whose children are inpatients at the Victoria Hospital can get away for a moment to gather their thoughts, rest and relax, have something to eat and drink.
The Family Room program will operate 7 days a week 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. It will provide:
A kitchenette and small dining areas;
Comfortable seating areas;
A private bathroom and shower;
Laundry facilities;
A play area for children;
Computer and internet access;
A quiet space for families for meditation or conversation;
Sleeping nooks for short naps and peaceful relaxation;
Coffee, tee and nutritious snacks.
We are currently recruiting people to volunteer for a weekly shift in the Ronald McDonald House Family Room at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert.
