Melfort reviewing taxi service after residents voice concerns
Taxi service in Melfort is going under the microscope in response to a number of complaints made to city hall.
“They were making comments, like they would phone (for a taxi) and nobody was answering the phone,” said Mayor Rick Lang.
On Tuesday, a meeting was held between the city and the cab companies. Two of the three taxi services in the city showed up to the meeting. They were given 12 recommendations to consider, including never insulting or threatening customers.
The taxi companies were also asked to extend their hours of service, guaranteeing at least one taxi would be available from 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. during weekdays, and 8 a.m. to 4 a.m. on weekends.
