Raiders ramping up plans for training camp
It’s that time of year again. Raider rookie camp opens Aug. 22 and general manager Bruno Campese says there is a lot to go over before the players arrive.
“Everything from who we have coming to where we see guys (players) as far as moving forward, mapping out and projecting who is going to be in the Regina tournament (Aug. 29 vs. Lethbridge, Aug. 30 vs. Calgary), there’s billets, there’s schools, there’s travel, practice planning, there is a lot going on.”
Part of the planning process is dealing with the six players destined for NHL camps. Campese said they want to make sure those players are prepared so they can hit the ground running when they come back.
“For example, a player like Mckenze Stewart: he’s going to be heading to Vancouver’s rookie camp. We have to make sure we get him enough ice time in certain situations, maybe some different looks that he wasn’t used to last year.”
