The Mann Art Gallery is pleased to invite you to the opening reception (snacks and non-alcoholic beverages) for the Northern Indigenous Photo-Voice Project (August 1st – 22nd) at the Prince Albert Arts Centre.

In conjunction with the Mann Art Gallery and the Prince Albert Council for the Arts, this pilot project was funded and sponsored by the Mann Art Gallery, the Prince Albert Council for the Arts, The Northern Lights Casino, Tribe Inc., Keethanow Business Group, Northern Sport, Culture & Recreation District, Sustainable Education Research Institute, University of Saskatchewan, PAVED Arts and the Indigenous Peoples Artist Collective.

The Northern Indigenous Photo-Voice Project was facilitated by the Mann Art Gallery`s summer student, Aleyna May Morin and local artist Tim Moore. The project took place during the weekend of June 27th, 2014 on the Sucker River First Nation, reaching out to over 30 youth ages 6 to 15. Aleyna and Tim travelled with equipment borrowed from the University of Saskatchewan and Paved Arts, 241 kilometres north. Providing positive opportunities through the art of photography they gave participants a voice through a lens. The youth built relationships with each other, their community and now the viewers.
