Jan 16, 2019 | 9:51 AM

A former resident of Prince Albert was located deceased after she went missing in B.C. earlier this week.

On Jan. 13, the Squamish RCMP received a call from a Lions Bay family member of Lorraine Prebushewski who reported her missing. Prebushewski, who previously lived in the Prince Albert area before moving to B.C., was last seen at 10 a.m. on Sunday. She was last seen leaving on foot from a home on Kelvin Grove Way.

Squamish RCMP, Lions Bay Search and Rescue, Coast Guard, and RCM SAR conducted a large scale operation in order to locate Prebushewski.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., Jan. 14, Squamish RCMP received a call from an off duty RCMP police officer regarding a body he located at Kelvin Grove Beach in Lions Bay. RCMP attended and were able to recover the body of a woman with the assistance of Lions Bay SAR.

Police say all initial indicators suggest the deceased is Prebushewski, but a final identification by the B.C. Coroner’s Service is pending. There does not appear to be anything suspicious at this stage but the Squamish RCMP said they will be assisting the Coroner’s Service over the next few days to determine any investigative avenues. A friend of Prebushewski’s notified paNOW she previously lived in Prince Albert.

“The Squamish RCMP would like to thank all those involved is the search for Ms. Prebushewski over the last number of days, particularly Lions Bay SAR, the Coast Guard, and RCM SAR,” said Cpl. Sascha Banks stated in a media release. “Also a thank you to the media for getting the information out about Ms. Prebushewski so quickly. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Ms. Prebushewski.”
