Bears can’t outshine the Stars

Dec 1, 2018 | 7:48 PM

The Saskatoon Stars keep their undefeated record intact after defeating the Prince Albert Northern Bears 3-1 on Saturday at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Stars shot out to a 2-0 lead in the first period after the Bears got into some early penalty trouble.

The Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League’s leading scorer, Grace Shirley, scored on the power play to put the Stars up 1-0. Makena Kushniruk added the second for the Stars, just moments after Kate Ball had a glorious chance in front of an open net but couldn’t get a shot away.

Bears forward Brooklyn Anderson cut the Stars’ lead in half in the second period, but that’s as close as the Bears would get. Kailtin Jockims would restore the Stars’ lead in the third period.
