Santa Claus Parade returns to Prince Albert

Nov 19, 2018 | 12:51 PM

Thousands of people are expected to turn up for Saturday’s Prince Albert Santa Claus Parade.

The popular annual event brings in a number of holiday-themed floats.

One of the organizers, Carolyn Carleton with the Prince Albert Downtown Business Improvement District, explained the route.

“It starts at the Historical Museum and it goes up Central (Avenue) to the Gateway Mall, where Santa Claus gets off his float to greet the kids,” Carleton said. “I think it’s great. It brings people into the downtown; it adds a sense of community.”

The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. and shortly after Santa will be available at the Gateway Mall’s Center Court, Christmas Village.

Carleton said other than Santa another great reason to visit the parade route is the floats, with 25 floats accompanying Santa through the downtown.

“About 25 floats of people that are interested in coming down and greeting Santa and seeing everyone in Prince Albert,” Carleton said.

She hopes they can add to last years’ success, “We’re quite excited last year we had thousands of people come down to watch the parade, so we’re hoping for good weather and a great turnout this year.”

The Museum will also be open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for their Christmas Gifts of the Past display, admission is free.
