A collision, two arrests and a fire kept Prince Albert Police busy over the weekend.

On Friday, around 11:30 a.m. officers attended a crash. Witnesses reported seeing a van hit a tree before a man and woman walked away from the vehicle.

Officers found the woman and man intoxicated and determined the man was the driver of the van, which was stolen.

The man, 24, was charged with impaired driving, refusing to provide a breath sample, failure to remain at the scene of an accident and possession of stolen property.

He will appear in court today.

Later that afternoon around 3:45 p.m., officers found a man on a bicycle acting suspicious and attempting to avoid police. The officer spoke with the man, who provided a false name, before he fled on foot. After a short pursuit, officers located the man in a backyard.

During the arrest, the suspect bit an officer on the arm. His identity was later confirmed. The 23-year-old man from Prince Albert has outstanding warrants. He was charged with obstruction, assault causing bodily harm, resisting arrest and breach of court order.

He will appear in court today.

On Friday evening, around 11 p.m. officers arrived on the 1600 block of 15 Street West as firefighters battled the flames on a detached garage.

Members confirmed no one was home at the time of the incident, which remains under investigation.

On Sunday, Aug. 26 around 6 p.m. a member arrived at a liquor establishment on Second Avenue West where an intoxicated man assaulted a man. Police said the accused was uncooperative with members and resisted arrest.

The 41-year-old from Prince Albert was charged with assault and resisting arrest. He will make his first court appearance today.
