Two Prince Albert teens locked up medals at a national wrestling tournament in Edmonton over the weekend.

Cole Sanderson snagged gold in the 65 kg category in the under-19 Greco championships. Sydni Natomagan secured third place in the girls' under-17s in the 61 kg category.

Coach Brooke Smith said this was the best outing they've had at a national tournament.

"We've had a silver in Greco before and a bronze in freestyle, but this year we got a gold and a bronze in Greco,” he said.

Smith said he's incredibly proud of the two teens, especially because this was Sydni's first national tournament.

“We had five boys and three girls competing in the U-17 and U-19 Greco events, and it’s a good experience to have this tournament under their belts," he said.
