Let the voting begin

Apr 21, 2011 | 12:10 PM

If you are in a rush to cast your ballot or have somewhere else to be on May 2, here is an option for you.

Advance polls run Friday, Saturday, and Monday from noon to 8 p.m.

Figuring out where you go to vote is quite easy.

“You should have received in the mail by now a voter information card that has your name and address and your polling station location,” said Leanne Nyirfa with Elections Canada.

She said if you have not received your voter information card, then it means you are not registered and you need to contact Elections Canada right away.

The toll free number is 1-800-463-6868.

Nyirfa said the most important thing to remember when going to vote is to bring identification.

“That can be a photo identification that has your name on it, like a driver's license. If you don't have a driver's license, you can bring in two other pieces of identification that have been authorized by Elections Canada,” Nyirfa said.

She said these can include your health card, status card or power bill.
