Roughriders Marcus Adams to wear pink despite fine

Oct 15, 2010 | 5:16 PM

You might notice Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive tackle Marcus “Chunky” Adams running around in a little more pink this Sunday against the Calgary Stampeders.

He will be wearing the color in support of breast cancer awareness month.

But there's a good chance he could be fined by the CFL for breaking a rule that prevents players from doing so.

Adams says he's showing his support regardless.

It's just for the love that I have for women,” said Adams.

“It's for those who have survived breast cancer, for those that we've lost and also for my mom who battled the disease. You fine me, big deal. Life goes on and I don't worry about it.”

Well, he won't have to worry about it at all. Rawlco Radio, which owns the News Talk Radio stations among others, has decided to pay whatever fine comes his way.

Adams was very grateful when heard of the news and was also able to joke about it.

“That would be great. I really appreciate it and I owe you guys one,” said Adams.

“I love it. I might use the money that would have come out of my pocket and go buy a new car.”

The fine won't be that high Chunky. The maximum amount a player can be fined is $1,000.
