Prince Albert area men receive bravery medals

Nov 8, 2014 | 7:11 AM

Two men from the Prince Albert area received medals of bravery Friday afternoon in Regina.

27 year old Kyle Anderson and his younger brother Tye, were presented with the award from Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Schofield.

The rescue happened back in May, just north of MacDowall. A woman out quadding got too close to the river, fell in and began to drift downstream. The woman was no stranger to Kyle and Tye — it was their aunt, Carol.

Kyle and Tye acted quickly, rushing to their aunt’s aid. After several attempts, they managed to pull her to safety, injuring themselves in the process. Pati Anderson, Kyle’s mother, watched the events unfold from shore. She would do her part by yelling words of encouragement, telling Carol to not give up.
