A person cutting down a tree is to blame for causing a massive power outage Tuesday.

The power was cut to several communities north-west of Prince Albert around 2 p.m. and was out for several hours.

“The tree hit the line and took one of our power poles down,” said James Parker a spokesmen with SaskPower.

The affected areas included, Shellbrook, Blaine Lake, Debden, Canwood and Big River.
