The warm, dry fall weather has been helping more than just Saskatchewan's the farmers — organizers are using it as an opportunity to get a head start on fixing up the site of the 2011 Craven Country Jamboree.
“We'll continue, I think, as long as we have good weather,” said Kim Blevins, director of marketing and communications with the festival.
Two hundred loads of gravel and fill along with geotextiles are making their way out to the festival site to help fix the huge dips and holes in the roads.
Geotextiles are actually used in heavy construction around the world and will be used to reinforce the road beds. “To handle the weight of heavy trucks, cars, RVs, the big buses that come on to our site,” Blevins explained.
There's also some good news for the people who are worried about a re-occurrence of this past year's crazy 15-hour line-ups to get in.
“When we looked at some of the videos from that Thursday evening, we saw a lot of vehicle traffic, but not a lot of campers,” said Blevins.
So, next year the goal is to create a true express lane to cut down on wait times for people who are just returning with wristbands and have already set up their campsites.
As for more information on the 2011 talent line-up? Blevins says more should be announced within the next month or so.
