The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations (FSIN) is going to honour three fallen heroes this week.
The “Spirit of Our Nations FSIN/SIGA Powwow” is scheduled for Oct. 29-31 at Saskatoon's Credit Union Centre. Special dance competitions will be held Friday and Saturday night in the men's traditional category.
Also on Friday, RCMP Constables Robin Cameron and Marc Bourdage will be remembered. They were killed in the line of duty outside of Spiritwood in July of 2006. And on Saturday, FSIN Vice-Chief Lyle Whitefish says they'll honour a fallen soldier.
“Sergeant Darby Morin in Afghanistan, in an accident last year. It was his first tour of duty into Afghanistan, he was a U.S. soldier.”
In addition to the powwow, there will be an education symposium held Monday, Oct. 25. As many as 220 high school students will be attendance.
